Don’t burden Ghanaians with road tolls and E-levy – Cuts Int’l to govt

Cuts International, a consumer advocacy group, has urged the Ghanaian government to reconsider its plan to reintroduce road tolls in 2025 while continuing the Electronic Transfer Levy (e-levy).

The group's West African director, Appiah Kusi Adomako, expressed concern that simultaneously imposing both levies would significantly increase the tax burden on Ghanaians.

He questioned whether the revenue from these taxes would effectively address road maintenance issues, noting that current fuel levies for road funds have not been used as intended.

Adomako emphasized the need for transparency and effective use of collected funds to ensure they benefit the public.
