Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah, Executive Director of the National Cathedral project, has clarified misconceptions surrounding the initiative, highlighting its broader goals beyond being just a physical church.
He stressed the cathedral's potential to promote Ghana's cultural heritage, generate revenue, and serve as a platform for connecting with the African diaspora.
Despite opposition and concerns about transparency, Dr. Opoku-Mensah, speaking at a symposium in collaboration with TD Jakes’ divinity school, emphasized the cathedral's role in fostering important national, continental, and global conversations.
The project seeks to address both historical and contemporary African contributions to theology.
