Dr Sekou Nkrumah applauds Mahama’s promise to reinstate July 1 holiday

Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana's first President, is thrilled about NDC flagbearer John Mahama’s promise to reinstate July 1 as Republic Day if elected.

Dr. Nkrumah highlighted July 1, 1960, as a pivotal date in Ghana's history, previously celebrated until the Akufo-Addo administration reclassified it as a commemorative day, replacing it with August 4 as Founders' Day.

Mahama has criticized this shift, accusing the current government of trying to "rewrite history" by not recognizing the collective contribution to Ghana's founding.

Dr. Nkrumah urges resolving historical disputes with a clear understanding of the past, advocating for acknowledgment of Kwame Nkrumah’s role in Ghana's independence.
