Dr. Spio-Gabrah files and pays GHC5,000 extra as filing fee

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has filed his nomination to contest the presidential race.

He was the last person and candidate to file today (Tuesday) December 18, 2018 at the party’s headquarters.

The former minister exceeded the filing fee by GHc5,000 and told the party his decision was deliberate and was to show that he loved the party more than the others.

He was however, quick to add that, he was still convinced the filing fee was still extremely high and does not represent the values and principles of the party.

He underscored the need for the party to look at other ways of generating funds instead of depending on filing fees.

He made reference to the European world and insisted they do not demand for filing fees from candidates and called on the NDC to emulate.

On his part, the chairman, Mr Ofosu Ampofo said, the party still believes in the ideas and values and principles of the party.

He commended the seven aspirants who have filed and said they have given indications that, they are capable and resourceful enough to run their campaigns and the elections should any of them emerge as the winner.

He pledged the party will organise a free, fair and transparent polls.
