The Transport Operators of Ghana have criticized NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's pledge to extend the renewal period of driver's licenses from two years to ten years, labeling it as a tactic to gain votes.
In a statement, they expressed skepticism, pointing to past unfulfilled promises and policies that have increased costs for drivers, including taxes on petroleum products.
The group urged Bawumia to address existing issues, such as high costs for licenses and roadworthy certificates, and to fulfill previous promises before introducing new ones.
They also cautioned drivers to be wary of such political pledges.
