The Executive Director of Patients Friend Foundation, Benjamin Ansah, has stated that most Ghanaian drivers are not serious about their health.
According to him, most of the drivers are so much driven by their hunger for money that they do not have the pleasure to undergo routine checkups.

Read full articleand hardly have time to rest as result of their schedule. These, he said, result in fatigue driving.
Mr. Ansah argued that for a driver to be able to execute his duties effectively, he or she must be healthy.
“We feel that before a driver must go and come back, the driver must be healthy. Without your health, you cannot move about. Drivers normally wake up at dawn. They don’t rest. They just move about and come home late. And then at dawn again, they just get up and move about, without thinking that they need to take safety precautions about their lives. There is the need for every driver to take medical examinations serious,” he explained.
He debunked the myth that most drivers need to take in alcohol in order to arouse their appetite, suggesting that they should opt for water and fruits instead.
“You have no excuse whatsoever to say that you have to drink and drive. If you lose appetite, please drink a lot of water. Eat a lot of fruits. So there is no need for a driver to drink and drive”, he said.
The Patients Friend Foundation is an NGO which provides health services through social mobilization, education, screening and treatment with the help of individuals, corporate bodies, stakeholders and sponsorship.
