Dumsor imminent in Konongo as galamseyers invade GRIDCo site within Northern Ashanti Mines

Illegal mining activities in Konongo, Ashanti Region, are threatening power supply to parts of the Ashanti and Eastern Regions.

The galamsey operators have encroached on the Northern Ashanti Mines’ concession, where critical GRIDCO substation pylons are located, risking power outages in Konongo and nearby communities.

Despite security efforts by the mining company, illegal mining persists. The company has sought help from local security agencies but received no support.

Tensions are rising as armed individuals recently attacked the mine’s task force.

Intelligence suggests another assault may occur on October 10, raising fears of further confrontations.
