Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of CDD-Ghana, has criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for approving 13 candidates for the 2024 presidential election, suggesting some are proxies for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at a lecture honoring the late Akoto Ampaw, he questioned the integrity of the electoral process, arguing that smaller parties often serve as tools for the major ones.
He believes stricter vetting by the EC would result in fewer candidates, reflecting the duopolistic nature of Ghana's political system.
