Eduwatch bemoans literacy gap between urban and rural areas

Africa Education Watch has raised concerns about the low academic performance of students in rural areas, attributing it to inadequate teaching infrastructure and materials.

Fellow Divine Kpe highlighted the need for teacher incentives to improve educational outcomes.

He noted that nearly 50% of students fail to meet minimum standards in reading, numeracy, and literacy, particularly in underserved regions.

Kpe pointed out that while national BECE data might appear positive, detailed analysis reveals some schools scoring as low as 0%, emphasizing the significant disparities at the district and school levels.
