Eduwatch bemoans literacy gap between urban and rural areas

Africa Education Watch has expressed concern over the poor academic performance of students in rural areas, citing a lack of adequate teaching infrastructure and materials.

According to Divine Kpe, a fellow at Eduwatch, nearly 50% of children in underserved areas fail to meet minimum standards in reading, numeracy, and literacy.

He emphasized the need to incentivize teachers to improve educational outcomes in these regions.

Analysis of BECE data reveals that some schools in rural areas score as low as 0%, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to address this disparity.
