Election 2024: Officials implicated in fertilizer smuggling will be jailed – Basintale

Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of illegally smuggling fertilizers from the Upper East Region to Burkina Faso and Togo.

He claimed this smuggling operation is damaging local agriculture and worsening economic conditions for farmers.

Speaking at a rally in Binduri, Basintale specifically implicated Abdulai Abanga, the local MP and Deputy Minister for Local Government, as a key player in this network.

He vowed that if the NDC wins the December elections, those involved in the smuggling would be prosecuted and jailed.
