Manager of New Patriotic Party’s 2016 Campaign Peter Mac Manu has stated with confidence that his party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has won the December 7 elections.
According to him, if the remaining results at the National Collation Center are anything to go by, then the Nana Akufo-Addo will soon be declared the president-elect.
The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has collated results from 239 constituencies which sees the three-time presidential candidate in the lead.
“Thirty-six constituencies will not change anything,” the former National Chairman of the NPP told TV3’s Bridget Otoo on Friday.
He said during the Nigerian elections of 2015, leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) were so confident with their projections that they said even if they gave results of some remaining states to Goodluck Jonathan’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the governing party would not win.
He said that is similar to what is playing out in Ghana. Mr Mac Manu said given NPP’s internal collation machinery, “even if we give them the 36 constituencies for free, we will still win”.
The Commission has given itself up to 72 hours after the polls closed to declare the results.
According to Mr Mac Manu, the time frame is not in any regulation and the EC must declare the results as it has them.
