Exempt Akufo-Addo’s home, village from blackouts – Adam Bonaa to ECG

Security analyst Adam Bonaa Security analyst Adam Bonaa

Security analyst Adam Bonaa has called on managers of the power sector in the country to exempt the home and immediate environs of the President from power outages.

According to him, the President, as the first citizen should be the priority in every instance because of the office he occupies.

The call comes on the back of the widespread blackout experienced in many parts of the country including the president’s area Tuesday.

Speaking on Alert show , Mr. Bonaa called on the National Security Minister and ECG to take his view into consideration.

“In a more structured security country, where the president stays, including his village should not go off. Where he stays – 500 meter radious should not go off and the place is off – incluidng the Nima police command. It should not go off for obvious reasions so that when there is trouble the neighbours will know what is going on and will quickly alert the authorities.

“If the whole area goes off and its only the president’s house which I suspect is on a generator, then somebody is not doing his work well and so I’m calling on the national security to fix this anomaly,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Electricity company of Ghana has blamed the widespread blackout in parts of the country on a technical beyond their country.

Parts of Accra and several parts of Kumasi were hit with long hours of power outages Tuesday evening. Power was subsequently restored to some areas while others continued to endure darkness.

Power distributor ECG in a statement on the development said it was out of their control while GRIDCO blamed the situation on system disturbance.
