First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has expressed her sorrow over the passing of Ghanaian tech pioneer Herman Chinery-Hesse, who died on September 16, 2024, reportedly from cardiac arrest.
Chinery-Hesse, known as the "Bill Gates of Africa," founded theSOFTtribe in 1991, Ghana’s largest software company, and played a major role in the country’s digital transformation.
In a tribute, the First Lady wrote, “You have gone too soon, unbelievable. May God grant you eternal rest.”
His death has deeply affected the tech community, with tributes pouring in to honor his innovative legacy and vision for Africa's technological future.
