Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper and Pollster, Ben Ephson has entreated flagbearer hopefuls of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to either join or follow the walkway of former President Mahama in his bid to bring the entire structure of the party together.
His call comes on the heels of a decision by the former leader to embark on a visit to the 275 constituencies across the country where he’ll meet winners and losers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional executive elections.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the flagbearer hopeful of the NDC said he has already spoken with the 10 chairmen elected on Saturday.
“I have also called and expressed my personal message of encouragement to many of the candidates who were not successful in the elections,” he wrote.
Speaking on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Ephson said the initiative of the former leader is laudable and must not be left alone for him to spearhead such move but rather all flagbearer hopefuls of the party must lend support in ensuring that both the newly elected executives of the party and the out gone are unified.
“I don’t think that this stage when people have declared their intent to be the flagbearer everything should be exclusive to them. Somebody can also decide to do that. I don’t think the party has asked John Mahama to do it; It is John Mahama`s own initiative and I think that nothing stops Spio-Garbrah, Goosie Tanoh, Sylvester Mensah, Joshua Alabi from also deciding that they will also visit the constituencies and meet the winners and the vanquished” he said.
Mr. Mahama has advised the newly elected executives across the regions to reach out to and bring everyone on board “for victory in election 2020”.
“The real work has just begun and we must all put our shoulders to the wheel going forward,” Mr Mahama stated.
