A group calling itself Concerned Clergy Association of Ghana, (CCA) has said attepts by faceless individuals to forcefully push the Chairperson out of her position is dangerous and a threat to the security of the country.
The group noted that although dangerous, some respectable people in society including some clergy have fallen into the trap “to frustrate and remove the EC boss out of office”.
The group In a statement said “Irrespective of the rancors nature of the unfolding events at the EC we still believe the commission is capable of rising to the occasion if the need be, therefore any call for Resignation or removal is premature and misplaced”.
The statement indicated that “We expected that after having conducted a successful election which is the only “Uncontested” result in the history of our nation the attack that greeted her appointment will be put to rest but it seems to us that some people have made it their agenda to remove her from office by all means”.
The statement said “It is interesting to observe that when the ” Petition” became public certain section of the public started calling for her resignation and when the EC boss responded to the petition she was again called upon to resign, so it look like right from the beginning the agenda was to get her out whether the allegations in the petition were true or not”.
It cautioned that any premature attempt to remove or force the EC chairperson to resign may plunged this nation into Chaos and mar our enviable record as an oasis of peace, stability and democracy in Africa.
PRESS RELEASE
Attempts To Blackmail EC Chairperson Mrs Charlotte Osei Out Of Office Is Very Dangerous
The Concerned Clergy Association of Ghana takes great exception to the subtle attempt by some unknown faces allegedly at the EC to blackmail the Electoral Commissioner Mrs Charlotte Osei out of office. This we see as dangerous and recipe for chaos in the country as the two main political parties takes opposite positions in the ensuing “Crisis”
Unfortunately some very respectable people in society including some clergy have fallen into what we see as a trap to frustrate and remove the EC boss out of office.
Irrespective of the rancors nature of the unfolding events at the EC we still believe the commission is capable of rising to the occasion if the need be, therefore any call for Resignation or removal is premature and misplaced.
We expected that after having conducted a successful election which is the only “Uncontested” result in the history of our nation the attack that greeted her appointment will be put to rest but it seems to us that some people have made it their agenda to remove her from office by all means
It is interesting to observe that when the ” Petition” became public certain section of the public started calling for her resignation and when the EC boss responded to the petition she was again called upon to resign, so it look like right from the beginning the agenda was to get her out whether the allegations in the petition were true or not.
Much as we will be happy to have an enquiry into the “Crisis” we will like to CAUTION that any premature attempt to remove or force her to resign may plunged this nation into Chaos and mar our enviable record as an oasis of peace, stability and democracy in Africa.
God bless our Homeland Ghana and make it Greater and Stronger.
SHALOM!!
