Former Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor has criticized Attorney-General Godfred Dame for not addressing a $134 million judgment debt from a UK tribunal involving Trafigura’s GPGC.
The debt, resulting from a power purchase agreement breach, includes $134.3 million plus interest and $3.3 million in arbitration costs.
Ghana has only partially paid, leaving $111.5 million in arrears. Donkor questioned why the Attorney-General and the Ministry of Energy failed to resolve the debt and criticized the government's handling of similar cases.
He proposed that a future NDC administration should investigate these judgment debts and hold responsible officials accountable.
