A Viral Fumigation exercise has begun in the Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA).

It forms part of efforts aimed at ridding the school of the H1N1 Virus which has claimed the lives of four students.

A private firm the OSCAPA Ventures on Sunday deployed its staff and chemicals to begin the fumigation as early as 6:45AM

As at evening when Ultimate News visited the school, about 90% of the school had been sprayed.

Chief Executive Officer of the OSCAPA Company limited. Oscar Osei Appau told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador the fumigation is to precede a general sweeping and scrubbing of the whole school.

He explained, “We are doing what we call the general and viral fumigation exercise for today but tomorrow it will be for general sweeping because we want to tidy up the whole place. We will come here finally on Tuesday for the main general cleaning which is the scrubbing and the application of disinfectants for the bath houses, toilets and any other place we consider’.

Mr Osei Appau however pointed out that the service was not entirely for free but a contract that his company won after tendering in a proposal to fumigate the school.
