The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced it cannot clear all debts before the 2024 BECE due to outstanding government arrears.
Despite receiving 47 million cedis from the Finance Ministry, only part of the 90 million cedis owed was covered.
WAEC would prioritize essential items like answer booklets and pencils but won't settle all debts.
The assurance is given in response to differences in the reported amounts received. WAEC has confirmed that 47.125 million cedis went through the Government Integrated Financial Management System, which differs from the 80 million cedis announced in Parliament.
The BECE will proceed as scheduled.
