GHA closes portions of Atebubu-Kumasi highway as White Volta cuts-off communities

The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has closed the Prang-Atebubu section of the Atebubu-Kumasi Highway due to flooding from the White Volta, which submerged the Nyomoase Bridge.

Several communities have been cut off, affecting movement and economic activities.

The GHA has diverted traffic and constructed a temporary cofferdam to help manage the situation.

No casualties have been reported.

Bono East Regional Minister, Kwasi Adu-Gyan, visited the site and assured residents that the road will be fixed once water levels recede. He urged drivers to be cautious, with security measures to be enhanced soon.
