Ghana is battling a cholera outbreak, with 16 deaths and 116 cases across four regions.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) advises citizens to adopt COVID-19 hygiene practices to prevent further spread.
Dr. Dennis Laryea from GHS emphasized early treatment to prevent fatalities, noting many cases involve patients arriving too late for effective care.
In Osu, a cholera-affected community in Greater Accra, residents face sanitation issues, worsened by inconsistent water supply and poor waste management.
They urge authorities to improve water access and address the deplorable refuse dump and unsanitary beach conditions.
Dr. Laryea warned that poor personal hygiene, unclean food handling, and waste mismanagement continue to heighten outbreak risks.
