The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has expressed concern about public officials demeaning journalists and the media.
He condemned a comment made by a former Minister of Works and Housing, Atta Akyea, which implied that only an economist could effectively lead the country.
Mr. Dwumfour demanded a retraction and an apology from Mr. Atta Akyea for his comments and urged the judiciary to expedite cases involving assaults on journalists.
He emphasized the importance of upholding the right to free expression and ensuring that journalists and media institutions work without fear.
