In a show of frustration over unmet government promises, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has staged a walkout on Deputy Education Minister Prof. Kingsley Nyarko during their annual national council meeting in Kumasi.

This protest stemmed from the government's failure to deliver laptops to over 50,000 teachers, despite deducting 30% of their salaries in 2021 for the "One Teacher One Laptop" initiative.

Chants of “No laptop, no council meeting!” disrupted the event.

GNAT leaders emphasized that the lack of laptops hinders teaching, especially in remote areas, and gave the government a one-week ultimatum to start distributing the remaining laptops.
