GRA cleans Maamobi General Hospital, donates dustbins to facility

The Nima branch of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as part of its corporate social responsibility has embarked on a clean-up and donation exercise at the Maamobi General Hospital.

The four-hour exercise saw choked gutters desilted, bushy areas cleared, and the various wards of the facility scrubbed by officials of the GRA and some hospital staff.



Read full articleAssistant Commissioner of Communication and Public Affairs at GRA, Kwasi Bobie-Ansah said the main objective for the gesture is to create positive associations with other institutions by demonstrating GRA’s willingness to give back to the society.

He said his outfit aims at making a visible contribution to communities in which it operates by providing an opportunity for its staff to actively contribute to community development through acts of benevolence.

Speaking to www.ghanaweb.com after the exercise, Mr Bobie-Ansah advised citizens to keep their surroundings clean to avoid ‘rainy season diseases’ such as cholera.

“Patients cannot recover in filth, so the clean-up exercise and donation of dust bins is to help the sanitation campaign of the president and also as part of our corporate social responsibility. Let’s keep our environment clean in this rainy season because it is only healthy citizens who can work well to discharge their tax duties,” he stressed.

He also urged tax defaulters to take advantage of GRA and government’s Tax Amnesty to fulfil their obligations in order to avoid prosecution.

“Government through GRA has declared a Tax Amnesty. Defaulters have up till 31st august to take advantage of this opportunity. We appeal to them to comply otherwise after the 31st, VRA will come after them,” Mr Bobie-Ansah said.

A medical officer at the Maamobi General Hospital who received the dustbins on behalf of the management, expressed his gratitude to the GRA for the gesture.

He said the hospital is in dire need of certain equipment, especially a generator and appealed to philanthropists, NGOs and religious bodies to assist in bringing quality health care to the people.
