Read full articlecentre arrive at a near dilapidation stage. This situation was as a result of the dusty environment of the school and the lack of replacement to faulty parts and gadgets.
Prior to the renovation, the ICT centre was left with only four computers out of the initial forty during its opening, a situation which greatly affected the teaching and learning of ICT for the over one thousand three hundred students of the four schools that make up the Anumle Cluster of Schools.
Speaking at Friday’s launch of the renovated centre, the Ghana Education Service (GES) Circuit Supervisor for Achimota, Mrs Brigdget Dumfuor Boadu, expressed gratitude to GT Bank for the renovation project, noting that some institutions who had initially expressed interest in undertaking the project ended up disappointing.
She highlighted some of the benefits of the ICT Centre for the students, teachers and GES officials. Mrs Boadu mentioned that the renovated lab is going to go a long way to make their overall duties easier.
“The forty desktop computers is going to promote effective teaching and learning for both students and teachers. With the headteachers, now when we ask for data you will quickly run into the ICT lab to download have your template and fix in that which is expected of you so that you can forward it on time.”
Delivering a speech on behalf of the General Manager of GT Bank, the Group Head of Corporate Affairs for the bank Mr Richid Ahiable said in this era of a technology driven world, the Guaranty Trust Bank holds the “believe that every child is born with unlimited potential and given the right environment, education, support and equal opportunities, will thrive and become the best versions of themselves. And to become the innovators and change makers that our country and continent desperately need.”
He said as a bank with a reputation for innovation and leadership in a digital space, it remains fully aware of the role ICT play in preparing young people for a digital future, hence its commitment to invest in ICT centres in deprived communities across the country. With the Anumle Cluster of Schools being the first beneficiary the “bold ambition” the GT Bank has undertaken.
He expressed hope that the renovated facility will contribute to effective teaching and learning in the Anumle Cluster of Schools.
The completely refurbished ICT centre has forty workstations with forty desktop computers, a printer and a projector.
The renovation also includes full internet access, with two installed air conditioners to tackle the situation of dust affecting the functionality of the computers.
