The Trade Unions Congress (TUC) has confirmed plans to strike on October 10 if the Ghanaian government does not declare a state of emergency to protect the nation’s water bodies and forests from illegal mining, known as galamsey.
TUC Vice Chairman Ken Tweneboah Koduah stated that despite ongoing discussions with the government, no significant response has been received regarding their demands.
The strike aims to compel urgent action to address environmental destruction and its economic implications.
TUC has begun preparations with its members and maintains a firm stance unless their requests are addressed satisfactorily.
