Galamsey: Presidency’s meeting with Organised Labour needless, bogus – Gyampo

Professor Ransford Gyampo, President of the University of Ghana's UTAG, has dismissed the government's invitation to discuss Organised Labour's planned strike against illegal mining (galamsey) as "needless and bogus."

Organised Labour plans to strike indefinitely starting October 10 due to unmet demands, including a ban on mining and a state of emergency declaration.

Gyampo criticized the government's lack of communication and commitment, stating they often ignore agreements with labour groups.

He defended the week's notice for the strike as necessary for proper preparation among the unions involved.
