Isaac Amoo, Board Chairman of the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), has warned staff not to participate in the nationwide strike called by Organised Labour on October 10.
Speaking on October 9, he stated that any employee who joins the strike should "consider themselves sacked," emphasizing GMet's critical role in national security through weather data for aviation, agriculture, and emergency services.
The strike aims to pressure the government to take action against illegal mining (galamsey), which has caused significant environmental damage.
Amoo urged staff to prioritize their duties over the strike, reiterating that GMet is an essential service.
