Galamsey fight: We’ll proceed with planned demo, strike – TUC

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) is set to proceed with its planned nationwide strike or protest following a meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

The TUC had earlier warned it would strike if the government, led by President Akufo-Addo, failed to declare a state of emergency to tackle illegal mining (galamsey).

TUC Chairman Bernard Owusu confirmed that the union is ready to act based on the meeting's outcome.

He noted that previous talks with the government have been unproductive, prompting the union to finalize its protest plans.
