Galamsey should be stopped completely- Kwame Pianim

Renowned Ghanaian economist Kwame Pianim has called for an immediate end to illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, stating there is no valid economic, social, or political reason to allow it.

In an interview, Pianim praised President Akufo-Addo's efforts but said more needs to be done.

He expressed concern over polluted rivers and urged political leaders to present clear plans to tackle the issue. He also recommended involving scientists, geologists, and doctors to assess the impact of galamsey on health, agriculture, and the environment, emphasizing the need for a national collaborative effort to address the menace.
