Ghana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Damptey Bediako Asare, is advising Ghanaians to be cautious about traveling to Kenya due to escalating protests against a controversial finance bill proposing new tax hikes.
Protests turned violent on Tuesday, with security forces clashing with protesters who vandalized state properties and attacked Nairobi's Parliament building.
Ghanaian tourists and business owners, who have been exploring opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), are advised to stay informed and avoid protest areas.
Some Ghanaian MPs were caught up in the demonstrations but were safely moved inside Kenya's Parliament building. So far, no Ghanaian casualties have been reported.
