Ghana is now bad model of democracy; our judiciary is not independent – Mahama

John Mahama, the NDC's presidential candidate, has criticized Ghana's current state of democracy during his tour of the Northern Region, stating the country has become a "bad model" of democratic governance.

He raised concerns about the independence of the judiciary and the autonomy of state institutions, claiming that this has disappointed the international community.

Mahama noted that Ghana, once viewed as a democratic role model, is now struggling economically and institutionally.

His comments coincide with ongoing legal disputes involving Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Speaker Alban Bagbin, as the Supreme Court recently upheld its ruling regarding vacant parliamentary seats, dismissing the Speaker's appeal as lacking merit.
