Former Municipal Chief Executive for the Ejisu Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, has indicated that Ghana is no longer safe for both locals and nationals.
According to him, the recent attacks and killings of police officers by armed robbers is an indication that the security of the West African country has broken down.
His comments follow an attack on the Kwabenya police post by a group of armed robbers who freed seven suspects from the station and killed one officer on Sunday.
Mr Ponkoh told Chief Jerry Forson, on the Ghana Yensom show on Accra 100.5FM on Tuesday January 23 that : “Of course there are crisis across the length and breath of this country and that is a matter of concern to everyone, it is a matter that has to be discussed at the highest level.
“If there is no proper security then it means all of us are not safe. It happened to a whole judge in court. Ghana is really not safe.”
Meanwhile the police has said the search for the seven escapees continues unabated.
