Pius Apprey, a Ghanaian student at the University of Kent, has written an open letter appealing for urgent financial assistance for Ghanaian students abroad on government scholarships.
Apprey highlights the severe hardships these students face, especially in the UK, due to unpaid stipends and tuition fees.
He notes that many have received stipends for only 9 out of the 37 months abroad, leading to evictions, academic withdrawals, and even desperate measures for survival.
Although the government recently released GH₵50 million, Apprey argues that this is insufficient and calls on President Akufo-Addo to provide additional funds to resolve the crisis.
