Ghanaians are greedy, dirty and filthy – Prof Aheto

Former Deputy Rector, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Professor Bright Aheto has labeled Ghana as a ‘dirty country’.

Prof. Aheto expressed his disappointment with the poor improvement in sanitation in some parts of the country especially the capital city, Accra.

Using the Black Stars Square as an example, he described how the surroundings are covered with filth.

He, however, lambasted Ghanaians living in the country for their poor attitude towards environmental sanitation and called on all to change from their ‘dirty’ ways.

“Go behind the Black Stars Square you will see filth. Ghana is filthy, Ghana is dirty, we need to change our mindset, we need to change our ways.”

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo as part of his mandate pledged to improve sanitation in the country and make Accra the cleanest city in Africa by the end of his term.


Greedy Ghanaians

Speaking at the 3rd Revolutionary Lecture Series at the University of Ghana Business School on the theme “Developing a National Character for Sustainable Good Governance”, Prof. Aheto who disagrees with the lifestyle of the people living in the country, has criticized Ghanaians calling them “very greedy”.

According to the former rector, failure to make the environment clean is as a result of the greedy nature of Ghanaians.

“People are greedy, Ghanaians are greedy, very greedy. Whoever thinks he’s not greedy you’re deceiving himself. You’re judging yourself. Let me judge you I have the red pen here.”

Government to unveil new policy to address sanitation issues

Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources announced that Government will soon unveil new policy measures to enable the country to deal effectively with sanitation issues.

In her speech at the inauguration of the Kpone-Katamanso Sanitation Strategy and Quarterly clean-up exercises initiated by the Assemblies, the minister called on the Assemblies to enforce bye-laws on sanitation and come out with pro-active measures to drive the sanitation agenda.
