Ghanaians normalized corruption long ago – Martin Kpebu

The Akufo-Addo-led government, despite several criticisms and accusations of being riddled with corruption, remains absolute on their stance of protecting the public purse.

But like many Ghanaians, Private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu insists the incidence of corruption is deep-rooted in the country.

He, however, does not blame this government so much as he says the incident of corruption precedes this era.

“…on the matter of normalization of corruption, look, to be frank, we normalized corruption long ago. It didn’t start today…we have always been corrupt. We shouldn’t run away from it.” He noted.
He also commended the approach employed by the Kwame Nkrumah government to fight corruption and encouraged the incumbent administration to do same.

“… we all know starting from Kwame Nkrumah’s government when he was overthrown, they set up eventually the Akpaloo commission… they used this process where you’ll be called upon to justify your assets which is a very commendable today, rather than let’s have a complaint.” He explained

President Akufo-Addo as part of steps to curb the menace has charged Ghanaians to report and file complaints against his appointees who have dabbled in dishonest means to be investigated.
