The government plans to merge Ghana's hydroelectric dams into a single entity called the Ghana Hydro Authority, as outlined in a bill currently before Parliament.
During an emergency Parliamentary session, Deputy Minority Whip Ahmed Ibrahim raised concerns, particularly about how the merger might impact the Bui Power Authority (BPA).
He mentioned that traditional leaders in his constituency are worried about the implications.
In addition to the Ghana Hydro Authority Bill, other energy-related bills are being pushed, including those for the Ghana Thermal Authority and the Ghana Nuclear Power Corporation.
The Speaker, Alban Bagbin, postponed further discussion since physical copies of the bills' explanatory memoranda were unavailable.
