Government, UNESCO to scale up Comprehensive Sexual Education among Ghanaian youth

Addressing the gathering, Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azouley maintained that the purpose for the ‘03’ project is to improve reproductive health of the adolescent and the reduction in HIV Infections, early and unintended pregnancy, gender based violence and child marriages.

Madam Azouley noted that defending young women’s right to education is crucial both as a goal in itself and as a means to better health and socio-economic development outcomes.

“Africa’s youth are its future and most precious resource and young women’s right to education is crucial to the development of the continent”, she asserted



Ghana’s Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh also observed that there’s more crucial work to be done in order to ensure our adolescents learn in a safer environment that would contribute to quality educational outcomes.



He added that the Comprehensive Sexuality Program would enable a secured and sustainable political commitment for Ghanaian adolescents.
