A seven-member government delegation will visit the Ndewura Sumali Jakpa Palace on Wednesday to advocate for Damongo MP Samuel Abdulai Jinapor.
The delegation includes Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Interior Minister Henry Quartey, and Chieftaincy and Culture Affairs Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng, among others.
They aim to seek leniency from Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, who recently banned Jinapor from all palaces in the kingdom due to youth arrests and demonstrations in Damongo.
An earlier delegation of Muslim clerics also sought forgiveness for the MP, the grandson of Yagbonwura. The situation has created tension in Damongo.
