Alhassan Suhuyini, Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament's Lands and Forestry Committee, has criticized the government's Green Ghana Day initiative, stating it has failed to significantly increase Ghana's forest cover.
He alleged the program is plagued by procurement infractions, corruption, and lack of transparency, with seedling contracts awarded to cronies at inflated prices.
Suhuyini called for a reevaluation of the approach, advocating for a sustainable, long-term strategy for reforestation, including continuous efforts, monitoring, and evaluation to effectively combat deforestation and climate change.
