Hand back management of schools to missions – Catholic teachers

The Association of Catholic Teachers, Ghana, has renewed the call to the government to hand back the management of mission schools to the various missions.

It said doing that was necessary to help bring discipline and ensure good character training among school children.

This was contained in a press statement jointly signed Emmanuel Dogodzi, the National President, Emmanuel Gazari, National Secretary, and William Boakye-Baafi, National Coordinator, at the end of their national delegates’ meeting at Torve, in the Volta Region.

It said the government should make sure that the structures of management and control of the mission schools by the Education Units of the Christian and Islamic Missions, at all levels were recognized by the new Education Bill.

That, the statement said, was the way to go to restore efficiency to the management of schools and to achieve quality education.

The meeting provided a forum for Catholic teachers to discuss ways of improving discipline and academic performance in schools.
