Just a day after the inauguration of Accra’s GH¢677 million Flowerpot Interchange by President Akufo-Addo, Sahadatu Seidu, a trader, has returned to her old selling spot beneath the structure.
She justified her move, citing her prior operations at the location before construction.
The interchange, built by China Railway No. 5 Engineering Ghana Limited, aims to improve traffic flow between key areas like Spintex, East Legon, and Tema.
During its commissioning, authorities warned against setting up kiosks near the interchange to preserve its functionality and aesthetics.
Sahadatu’s return highlights the tension between urban development and informal trading, raising concerns about regulatory enforcement to sustain the interchange’s long-term benefits.
