Authorities of Owerriman Senior Technical School in the Asante Akim North Municipality of the Ashanti Region have withheld results of close to fifty students who sat for last year’s West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) due to school fees arrears.

This is after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Andy Appiah Kubi allegedly reneged on his promise to use a portion of his MP’s Common Fund to settle the arrears of GHC21,692.000 owed by the students he allegedly sponsored.

The revelation comes after a letter reminding the MP went viral on social media as residents, including staff of the local Assembly are surprised about the development, since huge sums of money have reportedly been withdrawn from the Assembly's coffers by the MP for the same purpose.

Consequently, the Governing Board of the Owerriman Senior High Technical has made a passionate appeal to Andy Appiah Kubi to settle the fees of the affected students as promised.

When reached for his comments, the Deputy Minister of Railways and Highways said, “I have promised to use my money to pay the fees, but nobody can force me to do so. This nonsense must stop!.”
