How Bawumia paid over GHC120,000 for man to receive treatment in India

The family of a man from Bole are thankful to Ghana's vice-president, Mahamudu Bawumia, whose donation of $24,000 made it possible for the 35-year-old kidney failure patient to receive treatment in India.

Reports available to YEN.com.gh indicate that a 35-year-old kidney failure patient from the Bole district of the Savanna Region has undergone a successful kidney failure operation thanks to a $24,000 donation from Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana's vice-president.

Classfmonline.com reports that Abdulai Harisu Boresa, the beneficiary, lost consciousness as a result of kidney failure in 2018.

A consequent plea for help reached the ears of the vice-president. Bawumia was in the area to interact with the Muslim community on Sunday, 2 June 2019 as part of his Ramadan tour and the family of Boresa seized the opportunity to thank him for his kindness.

According to Boresa, Bawumia first donated US$20,000 or GHC 105,000 through one of his aides, immediately the information about his health got to the vice-president.

Subsequently, the country's second most powerful politician added $4,000 of GHC 21,000 to the amount as pocket money when he was leaving for India for the treatment.

"For my health, I am highly indebted to Dr Bawumia," an elated Boresa continued.

As part of his visit to the area, Bawumia has also visited the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district and expected to crown the tour with a durbar at the palace of the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Kingdom, Yagbowura Tuntumba Boresa Sulemana Jakpa I.
