Mr Adjei was manhandled and dragged from his office by the macho men, but was saved by police officers, who were called in to control tempers.
In a video circulating on social media, Mr Adjei is seen being dragged from the top floor of the REGSEC office in the Ashanti Region by some police officers in order to 'protect' him from the angry men who had earlier destroyed some office equipment in their bid to drive out the President's appointee as REGSEC co-ordinator.
Regional executives of the NPP are reported to have met late Friday afternoon to decide on the best way of dealing with the challenge.
Meanwhile Mr. Adjei, the co-ordinator who was attacked by the thugs, is said to be 'safe and sound' as police investigate what really happened on Friday.
