I don’t regret going to Akufo-Addo before premiering Number 12 – Anas

Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has said it was only “ethical” for him to show portions of his Number 12 documentary to president Nana Akufo-Addo because his name had popped up, ahead of the release of the documentary on corruption in football in Ghana.

“We are talking about the President of the nation, the Vice, ministers of state…What do you think would have happened if I went ahead to show the film without first giving them the opportunity to respond?” he said.

Anas has been criticised especially by the Minority in Parliament for showing excerpts of his Number 12 documentary to Nana Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other top government officials ahead of the public viewing.

Responding to his critics on Accra-based Joy FM on Thursday, 28 June 2018, the award winning journalist said he does not regret showing the video to the president ahead of the premier because he could have easily been sued if he hadn’t.



““I have no regret going to the president, I have no regret going to the vice president, I have no regret speaking to the ministers involved in finding their side of the story because that is journalistic and ethical and that is what you must always do. And if I get this story again, I’ll go back and speak to them because their side also matter,” he said.
