2020-01-30I’ll bring back shift system to replace double track – Hassan Ayariga
Founder of All People's Congress, Hassan Ayariga
Founder and leader of the All People’s Congress, Hassan Ayariga, has proffered an alternative method of running the Double Track System of the Free SHS policy if he is voted as president in the upcoming December 7 polls.
According to the flagbearer of APC, the Akufo-Addo-led administration made a huge mistake by destabilizing the normal running of Senior High Schools

“The traffic light system” as he calls it backfired because the Akufo-Addo government had no knowledge about the full scope of the Double Track System.
Mr. Ayariga, while addressing the subject of some 400,000 past questions procured by government for SHS students, said on the side: “the traffic light system, why would they do such a thing. It is because they don’t know how to implement it properly that is why we have the traffic light system... it’s not because we don’t have facilities. I Hassan Ayariga have something different.”
Elaborating his idea of the shift system, he continued that his government, if voted into power, will boycott the double track and replace it with the shift system. To him, this move will better manage the deficits created as a result of the double track implementation.
“Look, considering the limited number of schools we have. You have to look at that to implement policies and implement it properly. I would have taken a different front roll all together…,” he noted.
“Schools within the jurisdiction of 15 kilometres, I’ll put the schools into A and B. Those living within the jurisdiction of 15 kilometers will all be day students and those who come from far away will be boarders… Now day students will go to classes from 6 am and close at 1 and boarders will start their class from 1.30 and close 8 or 7 pm,” Mr Ayariga explained.
“That is what we should be doing. A shift system,” he emphasized.
Hassan Ayariga was speaking in an interview on Citi FM's 'Big Issue', January 29,2020.
The Double Track System which was rolled out in September 2018 created an apparent confusion and misunderstanding on the part of parents due to lack of a clear cut clear understanding of the policies.
