The flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reiterated Ghanaians can trust him to run a clean administration, despite his shortfalls as human.
Nana Akufo-Addo at a thanksgiving service for the party’s parliamentary candidate for Tema West Carlos Ahenkorah at Sakumono on Sunday, said he will be an exceptional leader.
“I am not a perfect man by any stretch of the imagination, but my intention is an honest one. I'm not in politics to enrich myself, that's not the reason I came into politics,” the three-time presidential candidate of the NPP stressed.
He added: “I came to contribute my quota to ensure that our nation develops. If it was all about money, I would have stayed in law and in business. Have confidence in me that I am coming for the development of our nation, because we are not entitled to be a poor country, but a prosperous one.”
The former Foreign Minister emphasised he will do everything within his powers to restore unity in the NPP ahead of the 2016 elections.
“Whatever I can do to ensure that the NPP is united and all these internal happenings come to an end, I will do it."
The Superintendent Minister of the Mount Zion Methodist Church, Sakumono, Rt. Rev. Col. Paul A. Brewu, was optimistic Nana Addo will win the next general elections, but on one condition.
"If you can instil discipline in the NPP, I can assure you that in 2016-2017, you will be there. Do all you can to bring the NPP together, but don't hesitate to reprimand and discipline those who seek to destroy," he noted.
