The executive director for the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG), Dr. Emmanuel Akwetey, has called for a mediator for discussions on vigilante groups associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His comments come after letters were exchanged between the presidency and the NDC with regard to discussions focused on ending political party vigilantism.
In his third State Of the Nation Address (SONA), President Akufo-Addo called on the NPP and the NDC to initiate measures to deal with vigilantism.
Their failure to do that, he went on, would compel him to ensure that legislations ensure good results are achieved.
According to a report by Citinewsroom.com, Dr. Akwetey stated that the dialogue would only yield positive efforts if only an arbitrator is present.
YEN.com.gh understands that the National Peace Council (NPC) has also expressed its readiness to mediate in the dialogue.
