Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has accused the Executive Director of Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Mrs. Jean Mensah and Gabby Otchere-Darko, former boss for Danquah Institute of forming an alliance to disrupt Ghana’s democracy.
According to him, the IEA boss is blinded by greed and ego to admit and accept that Mrs. Charlotte Osei is the Electoral Commissioner despite her (Mensa's) knowledge of electoral matters.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Koku Anyidoho alleged that the IEA Head wanted to give instructions to Madam Charlotte Osei and when she did not succeed, went into an alliance with the Danquah Institute (DI), to raise mountains out of molehills with the voters' register.
“Jean Mensa is trying desperately to make herself more relevant than Charlotte Osei but IEA is a private institution belonging to Jean Mensa and her husband, and yet she thinks that Charlotte Osei should be taking instructions from her; so to the extent that Charlotte Osei will not heed to her views, she will go into an alliance with Danquah Institute, the NPP people and be creating all these issues,” he alleged.
He urged Jean Mensa and her institute to accept the fact that Charlotte Osei is the new Electoral Commissioner; rebuking her to put aside her greed and ego as she and her cronies cannot determine the calendar for the EC.
He asserted that the Danquah Institute (DI) and IEA made an attempt last year to create the impression that there is something wrong with the voters register but added the NDC was aware of such motive which was why his party didn’t attend the IEA debate on the register.
His salvo and allegation are born out of the demand of the Danquah Institute to stop the Electoral Commission (EC) from carrying out its mandated assignment to carry out the limited registration and finish first with the validation.
